?What was the creation process like??
As with other aspects in her life, Genova has always raised the stakes as high as possible and whenever possible. She has also applied this in her writing. She might have chosen a present-day character who seems as normal as could possibly be for a present-generation mother, but it stops there. Genova raised the stakes by giving her not just a job, but a crazy job. She has children she needed to bring from one place to another while she has to answer to this job. Genova needed a really busy bee so she made Sarah to be one, and when she had to crash, she really crashed hard. The intensity of the reason and her fall was as high a stake as could possibly be. The impact of the result, Sarah suffering from a left neglect syndrome, became the standard for Genova to write how Sarah was able to recover from her accident and learn to live with it.
