Little did Conor Grennan know that his plan to have a seemingly carefree and innocent trip around the world would compel him to write a novel for a cause. When he left EWI, Grennan started organizing his journey around the world. However, many of his friends frowned upon his idea of spending a lot of money on a trip, so he decided to volunteer at an orphanage in Nepal before he would embark on his grand voyage. He primarily did so in order to avoid all the criticism from friends and family members. He volunteered for three months at the Little Princes Children?s Home in Nepal, thinking that he would go there, do his service and then be off, free and happy to continue with his voyage, but this was apparently not the case. The orphanage was situated at a quiet location; however, in order to get to it Grennan had to pass through armed soldiers, armored vehicles and checkpoints. This was not an easy way of living. Little Princes catered to 18 children and it took Grennan some time to acclimate to the new conditions and the new pace of life. Over the next three months, he began getting connected to the children there and he realized how much he had gotten attached to them when it was time for him to leave.
