With the advancement of science and technology, communication process demands timely dissemination of knowledge being generated daily and updated and accessed easily across the globe. With the rapid growth of internet facilities and advancement of web enabled technology, almost all reputed international journals are available online and can easily be accessed all over the globe. The 21st century is a century of knowledge power and advancement of information communication technology. ICT demands paradigm shift from traditional to digital form of records, big volume to nano-drive options, print to digital version with unbelievable pace to access at tip of the finger across the globe. The recent development of ICT is playing an important role in restructuring of libraries. Each of the libraries and librarians have to be update themselves with latest electronic technologies because librarians have to remind themselves and others that technology can only be a tool in the hands of librarian to help and guide their users. The methods of librarian help to the users may change as technology advances, but the principles remain stable. However, librarians have to update their libraries, their products, services and procedures to cope up with the fast developing world of an electronic era. On the occasion of a National Seminar on "Redefining the role of librarian in electronic era" Experts of ICT, librarians and others were got together and wholeheartilY discussed about the role of librarian in electronic era. It is great pleasure that a compendium of papers is being published. I am sure this would help all the stakeholders for their endeavor to up scale the existing R & D resources to e-resources and provide plate form to build human resources to modern world.

Dr. (Mrs.) Jaya Barevadia did completed B. Com. (South Gujarat University, Surat ), Bachelor & Master of Library and Information Science, M.A. (Gandhi Darshan) (Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad) and Doctorate in Rural Studies (Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat), She joined as college librarian at M.M. Shah, Mahila College of Arts at Kadi, Dist. Mehasana and currently working at Sheth P.T. Mahila College of Arts and Home Science, Vanita Vishram, Surat since 1993. She is actively engaged in the modernization/computerization of the college library. Published over 16 peer review scientific articles. She is associated member (service) in Gujarat Granthalaya Seva Sangh, Ahmedabad; ADINET, Ahmedabad; MANLIBNET, New Delhi and IASLIC , Kolkatta and currently serving as president of the Gujarat Granthalaya Seva Sangh of South Gujarat Zone since 2002 (2002-2010). She also served as subject expert in Interview committee at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari. She has attended and interacted in 16 National and State level seminars, 2 workshops, 3 refresher courses, one orientation course and acquired two trainings.0
