As one would be able to understand, Siddhartha Mukherjee was inspired and intrigued by his disease at such a degree that he decided to write the history of it. Mukherjee is an oncologist by training with an M.D. and a PhD and his long years of training and researching have brought him quite close with the disease and people who suffer from it. ee spends his days struggling to deal with, understand and identify new potential treatments towards that disease. The idea for the book came to him when one of his patients was eager to know what the situation with cancer was and how medicine and science stood against it how they coped with it, the possible treatments and future strategies to deal with the disease. Sadly, the patient who had asked these questions passed away but these questions which occupy many people?s minds were left unanswered. It would be a book phrased in simple and easy-to-understand meanings, shedding off any jargon and doing away with clichés or taboos. It would be a book about helping people understand this defining disease...
