A leading figure in Chinese contemporary art, Yin Xiuzhen (b.?1965) is one of the most respected sculptors of her generation
Since the mid 1990s, Yin has created environmental artworks in response to the massive urban reconstruction of China, addressing social, physical and cultural issues.
Her best-known series, ‘Portable Cities’ (2000–02), features a number of suitcases containing miniature cities made from discarded clothes previously worn by the citizens of each place.
Yin’s work has been exhibited internationally, winning the approval of critics, curators and collectors around the world.0
