The story tells of a black butterfly that longs to be yellow like the other butterflies. Seeing her so sad, a wise butterfly tells her about the Yellow Country, a place where she can acquire the color she so desperately desires. She must go quickly, since winter is just around the corner. A generous blackbird kindly offers to take her there, but once they arrive, the bird also begins to change colors. “If I become yellow, then I will be different from the other birds,” he says sadly. Only then does the butterfly realize the price that must be paid for her stubbornness. Reconsidering the situation, she asks for the bird’s forgiveness.
