In recent decades, agrarian transformations in the modern era have generated heated debates among historians of Western Europe. The results of the investigations have brought down the dominant paradigm, modeled on the English model, associating a landscape of rural family farms with agricultural stagnation and immobility. If something is clear today is that the historical reality of those centuries was much more rich, varied and complex than we had supposed, in the new vision, the theory of economic growth played by peasants no longer causes a fuss. This book shows three examples of important early agricultural development in Mediterranean Europe. The three companies are companies which are present as basic and common feature an agrarian system centered around the same crops, the so-called Mediterranean trilogy, wheat, wine and oil. Another common element of the three study areas is that they are places that for centuries have been articulated around a specific operating units: the farms in the Old Catalonia, possessions on the island of Mallorca and the powers in Italy Central. But the three companies, despite these similarities, are very different from each other. The reader will note here the historical processes that have shaped and differentiating from the late Middle Ages to the present day or, at least until mid-twentieth century. \nThe works collected in this book have been made by a total of ten authors: Congost Rosa, Llorenç Ferrer, Pere Gifra, Lluch Rosa, Elvis Mallorquí, Enric Saguer Gabriel Jover, Antònia Morey, Maria and Giuliana Biagioli Ginatempo.\n0
