Se trataba de comprobar cuánta carga de nutrientes se eliminaba por sedimentación y por ingestión por los macrófitos sumergidos durante un año en dicha bahía, que está represada impidiendo parcialmente el paso del agua hacia la zona principal del embalse. Mendixur bay is separated from the main reservoir body by a retention facility. Our study aimed at evaluating the performance of that bay for retention of nutrients coming from catchment wastewaters. The main processes removing nutrients are sedimentation and uptake by submerged macrophytes, which were measured over an annual cycle.
