This small region combines culture and nature in changing landscapes. From the prehistoric time of Altamira to present time its winding landscapes have shelter prehistoric art, cities and roman roads, romanesque collegiate churches, gothic convents and churches, medieval towers, baroque houses and Goya or Gaudí creations. a delicate balnce where coexist the rural way of life, historical downtowns, the majesty of the Picos de Europa, natural parks at the coast, the subterranean heritage and the present testimonies of the social, cultural and technological development at the urban centres.
