In ?A Little World Made Cunningly,? Scott David Finch presents a stunning and visionary kaleidoscope of profundities. Ostensibly a Gnostic creation myth, but far more entertaining than stodgy scratchings in dusty old scrolls, ALWMC delves into the machinations and social vagaries of an often hilarious, always interesting cast of characters, all on a dress made of leaves. A talking monkey dressed as a lion? Check. An enormous caterpillar dwelling on a Moebius strip? Check. Disturbing, yet poignant ruminations on our relationships with animals and the implications thereof? Check. Commentary on the early Church Fathers and their various modes of epistemology? Check and double-check. Fans of independent graphic novels, and especially of Gnostic studies, would do well to have this modern creation myth in their libraries. A Little World Made Cunningly will go down as a worthy addition to the literature of Gnostic myth.
