SAMPLE EXCERPT:
?What was the creation process like??
This is how Patterson and Paetro collaborate on writing their books. When Patterson has an idea, he creates an outline then invites Paetro?s input on it. She says the outline never reads like an outline but has full paragraphs, like a book. She puts in her ideas through the gaps and when the outline is finished, they would put in details. She has researchers who get information about police work, forensics, and the law. When they have everything ready and they have agreed on how the story is going, she sits down and starts writing the first draft. She works everyday, sometimes in the morning or in the afternoon, from a few hours to twelve hours, finishing one to three chapters a day. She says it takes about eight months to really finish a book from the outline, to first draft, to second or third draft, and on to the finished product. She finishes the first draft and gives it to Patterson, who would do the second draft. Paetro praises Patterson for being a genius story-teller who has an unstoppable force of ideas and who also respects other people?s talent.
